Lithopone B-301 and B-311: a practical selection checklist
What to check when comparing lithopone grades, including composition, dispersion, whiteness and suitability for your formulation.

Understand what lithopone contains
Lithopone is a white inorganic pigment based on zinc sulfide and barium sulfate. It is used in selected paint, rubber and plastics formulations. A commercial grade name is a starting point for discussion; the supplier’s current specification is the basis for comparing products.
Compare the technical data
For B-301 and B-311, ask for the specified zinc sulfide content, whiteness, oil absorption, moisture, sieve residue and other properties relevant to your process. Confirm the test methods and whether a value is a guaranteed limit or a typical result. The final product index is subject to the applicable inspection report.
Test compatibility and performance
Check dispersion in the intended binder or polymer, finished appearance, hiding power and stability. Where titanium dioxide and lithopone are used together, evaluate the whole pigment package. No single replacement percentage applies to all formulations, and an indoor result does not establish outdoor durability.
Prepare a clear inquiry
Include your application, existing formulation constraints, expected volume, packaging and destination port. Ask for a suitable sample and current TDS and SDS. Longtai’s product catalog provides separate B-301 and B-311 pages so buyers can review the published grade information before requesting a quotation.
For the identity of the zinc sulfide constituent, consult NIST Chemistry WebBook: zinc sulfide; use Longtai’s agreed grade specification for actual purchase limits.
